Biography:
Michael Thompson, who won the team’s Rookie of the Year award for his impressive play in 2011, is one of the team’s biggest stars. He dazzled as a rookie, picking up 80 tackles, including 51 solo, 2.5 sacks, one interception and one forced fumble during his first regular-season indoors.
Thompson continually became a fan-favorite. His stardom was never so evident than final home game, a June 18 IFL Playoff matchup against the Chicago Slaughter. Thompson led the charge with nine tackles, 4.5 sacks and a fumble recovery in the end zone for a touchdown, helping the Express cruise a decisive 76-33 victory in front of the hometown crowd.
