Travel Channel's Food Wars Getting a Taste of the IFL

It's not the Reading Express, but we can't help but be happy for our midwestern IFL friends. The Omaha Beef is putting the IFL on TV Wednesday night, when the team will be featured on a "Food Wars" episode on Travel Channel.  Show time is 10:00 pm EST.  On this week's show, the cast visits Omaha, the city of Steak. Here's the info, direct from the Beef:

The Omaha Beef will be appearing on national television come next week! Even though their season does not start for another five months, Omaha’s premier indoor football team has still managed to stay in the spotlight. The Beef will be appearing on Travel Channel’s “Food Wars,” a show pitting two local delicacies against each other. The show will appear on October 20th at 10:00 pm EST.

The Beef’s own Kirk Heyer helped set up the famous Beef entrance tunnel, which was used in the taping back in June. “Travel Channel approached us when they were in town because they found it unique that a football team was named the Beef,” said Heyer. “Once finding out about us they wanted to do a little something to show how the community embraces its love of steaks. We decided to put on a little show with our players, dancers, and mascot, Sir Loin. It was a lot of fun,” continued Heyer.

The show will be hosting a showdown between two of Omaha’s finest steakhouses, Piccolo Pete’s and Canigilia’s Venice Inn, to see who has the best steak in the city. Piccolo Pete’s, opened in 1933 and Caniglia’s Venice Inn, opened in 1957, have been staples in the Omaha community and have reached an almost iconic level in the area. Host Camille Ford and two steak experts will be judging the contest to see whose steak reigns supreme!

The Omaha Beef are excited to be a part of something that promotes the Omaha area and its rich tradition of supplying some of the best steaks in the country. Tune in on October 20th to support your Omaha Beef as they take the national stage on the Travel Channel (Omaha Beef Press Release).
