Express Names Hinkle Steam Team Ambassador of the Year
June 6, 2012 – Reading, PA The Reading Express is pleased to announce Steam Team member Shelby Hinkle as the winner of Ambassador of the Year as voted upon by the Express fans at the home games and online polls. Hinkle represented the non-profit organization Easter Seals this season and, as the winner, Easter Seals will receive a monetary donation from the Reading Express.
Hinkle is a student at Kutztown University where she is majoring in Marketing and Management with a minor in Public Relations. She is set to graduate in December of this year.
Hinkle chose to represent Easter Seals because it is an organization close to her heart. She personally has worked with the kids involved with the program through her mother’s classroom at Whitfield Elementary School. She really wanted to represent an organization that supported kids in her community.
As an ambassador for the Easter Seals she worked closely with the organization to promote the Ambassador of the Year contest. Easter Seals did a lot to promote Hinkle as well as the elementary school that her mother worked at, “My mom sent an email to the faculty of the school to get some of her coworkers to vote for me online,” Hinkle said.
Being a devoted member of the Steam Team, Hinkle was an energized representative for the Express and the fans noticed. Hinkle received the majority of votes from game day as well as online votes.
“It was great experience that I’ll never forget. I was a lot fun, memories and times with wonderful friends,” said Hinkle, “and of course I’m so happy to be able support such an amazing organization like the Easter Seals.”
